Ponnala Sucks
Sri.Ponnala lakshmaiah was born to Sri Rama Kishtaiah on 15th February, 1944. His educational qualification is B.E., M.S. (USA). His profession is Politics. He was elected to the Assembly from the Janagam Constituency in Warangal District for 3 terms. He has widely traveled all over the world. He has held several public offices such as Minister of State during 1991-92 and 2004-09. He was married to Smt. Aruna Devi and has two sons.
I googled his name and got this information. I am impressed by his educational achievements and feel proud to have well educated person like him in politics. He is a BC leader. I give a damn to caste. Well educated, man of the world, person like him should not tender his resignation along with all other Ministers under coercion from JACT in meaningless manner. He was also irrigation minister in previous government, he knows very well about Jalayagnam projects. Why does he not speak up one way or the other? Was YSR wrong? He should oppose then.
Points in favor of Polavaram: It utilizes mostly flood waters that are going to seas for time immemorial. By building 150ft dam, they intend to divert upto 80 TMC of water into Krishna below NS project. So, this water can be well utilized by lower elevation lands, and leave more water in NS to be utilized by lift irrigation projects. Besides Vizag, Godavari districts, Krishna, Guntur, Ongole & Kadapa can gain from this. Nearly 50% of water enters Godavari much after proposed locations for Ichampally to be noted. So by Polavaram one is not doing any injustice to Upper lands called T. Benign thoughts!
But the point is why wasn’t Ichampally taken up with same veracity? Why were other dam sites or reduced capacity projected taken up in its place. People have right to know.
Who should answer this question from Government of AP? Is it not the Minister for Irrigation, the well educated Minister? Why does he shy away and just simply go by TRS threats? Does he not realize that he is from National Party Congress which is supposed stay above regional biases? For me he is not a T leader, a BC leader etc, he is well educated Congress man. He needs to stand up and speak. Explain if government is wrong, and it is wrong, since he is minister for irrigation from 2004. Should have protested long ago and walked away. Why does he wake up only when KCR fasts?

Telangana Benefits from Jalayagnam
Here’s a run down of the Telangana districts covered by Jalayagnam. Even if your village is not directly included its sweep, it’s spinoff benefits are likely to sweep you off your feet.
Adilabad
Although Adilabad served by the Godavari and the Pranahita, only about 15 per cent of its farm land is irrigated. The irrigation profile of the district has not changed much in 60 years. All that is about to change. Adilabad’s stake in Jalayagnam lies in the following projects:
Project Cost (Rs crore) Acres Completion
Pranahitha-Chevella 38500 156500 2014
Neelwai project 90 13000 2010
Ralivagu Project 33 6000 2009
Gollavagu Project 83 9500 2010
Peddavagu 124 15000 2010
Komaram Bheem 274 24500 2010
Mathadivagu 50 8500 2010
Gaddena-Suddavagu 37 10000 2010
Nizamabad
Only about 45 per cent of Nizamabad’s cultivated area is served by irrigation but it is better off than Adilabad on account of the Nizamsagar project, built before Independence, and the Sriramsagar project. Clearly a lot remains to be done and Jalayagnam seems to be the answer.
Project Cost (cr) Acres Completion
Alisagar 261 Completed
Guthpa 204 Completed

C Hanumanthareddy 55 11627 2009
Lendi 202 22000 2011
Karimnagar
The Sriramsagar project has done wonders to irrigation in Karimnagar district, but a lot more needs to be done.

Pranahitha-Chevella 38500 171449 2014
Kaleshwaram 632 40000 2012
Medak
Medak is poorly served by irrigation projects, with only about 11 per cent of its cultivated area irrigated. Not a single major project has been built in this district since Independence. A lot depends on Jalayagnam for the people of Medak.

Pranahitha-Chevella 38500 519152 2014

Warangal
Warangal falls in the Godavari-Krishna basin but only about 28 per cent of its agricultural land has irrigation. No major project has ever been in this district despite a lot of lip service by successive governments. Jalayagnam promises to change the agricultural profile of the district.

Khammam
Contrary to popular perception, Khammam is not rich in irrigation. In fact, it is among the worse-off districts. Only about 12 per cent of its farm land is irrigated. Khammam too has a lot at stake in Jalayagnam.

Hyderabad
Being an entirely urban district, Hyderabad has little to expect from Jalayagnam, except the diversion of Godavari waters to ease its drinking water shortage.

T-Agitatiors "Gandhigiri"!!
The agitations for ‘United Andhra’ and ‘telangana’ are taking a peaceful turn. Till yesterday, we have seen wide scale violence and destruction of public property raising the slogans of “Jai telangana” and “Jai Samaikhyandhra.”
It was altogether a different scene at Koththapet and LB Nagar near Dilsukhnagar that telangana advocates near the Court Complex at LB Nagar started to distribute rose flowers to Andhra settlers in buses who are leaving to their home towns for Sankranthi. Advocates raised the slogan of ‘Jai telangana’ and requested the Andhra settlers in buses to say ‘Jai telangana’ by offering them rose flowers. Enroute to Vijayawada and other Andhra areas, T-agitators near Suryapet are known to have arranged buffet food with Chicken Biryani for Andhra settlers who get down the buses for food.
Hope T-agitators have found the ‘Gandhigiri’ path as right way to achieve their statehood.

OU students realizing?
The Osmania University students JAC felt that they were cheated by the central government on Telangana issue in the name of discussions and consultations.
They were furious on Chidambaram and the Congress high command who clarified that a specific time-frame can't be fixed for carving separate Telangana state.
The students JAC demanded the Congress high command to introduce the Telangana bill in the Parliament immediately.
They also blamed the Congress, TDP and TRS leaders for not able to convince the central government to introduce the bill in Parliament.
The students JAC also mentioned that no political party talked about lifting cases on the students who were arrested in the ongoing Telangana agitation.

Vijayawada tops in SEXUAL harassment!
As per the statistics of National Crime Records Bureau for last year, our Andhra Pradesh which accounts for nearly 7% of India’s population accounted for 13% of crime cases against atrocities on women, mainly sexual harassment.
Adding to this dubious distinction, State has even accounted for 30 % of the sexual harassment cases registered in the country. Of these 30% cases major chunk is taken by vijayawada which is normally termed as “eve teasers paradise”.
Among the 35 cities analyzed by the National Crime Records Bureau in the country, Delhi topped the list with 17.5%, followed by vijayawada and Hyderabad with 7.8 per cent of the cases.
